Amruta Fadnavis on Priyanka Chopra’s dress controversy: Sad that in India, a woman’s clothes get more reactions than her body of work
Priyanka Chopra recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Germany and since then the Twitterati have had a field day trolling the actor for wearing a knee-length skirt in front of the PM.
The global star later did hit back at the trollers in a quirky way by posting a picture with her mother where she is seen flaunting her legs.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis’s wife Amruta Fadnavis had recently faced the similar situation for wearing a short dress for her video shoot with Amitabh Bachchan.
Amruta reacted to Priyanka’s dress controversy saying, “It is really sad that in India, a woman’s clothes get more reactions than her body of work. Priyanka is a global icon who has an impressive repertoire of work. It is appalling that people in this day and age want to dictate what she or any other woman should or shouldn’t wear. Nobody has any right to use filthy language or to abuse anyone. This is a free world; people can criticize anyone if they remain within the boundaries of decency, but nobody has any right to humiliate others, using unparliamentary language. And when PM and Priyanka had no problems, why should others have any issue with it, is beyond my comprehension. I feel you should do what comes naturally to you and not what people force you to do. There was nothing obscene or vulgar in Priyanka’s attire and she has the ultimate right to choose for herself, so trolling is totally unacceptable.”
We agree with Mrs. Fadnavis, what about you?
