Vidya Balan has impressed everyone with her fierce and never-seen-before avatar in Begum Jaan. The talented actor plays the role of a madam of a brothel in this Srijit Mukherji directorial.
Now as per a popular daily, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has been roped in to lend his voice for the film. He will be narrating the whole partition sequence and where the story of Begum Jaan begins.
Talking about it, Srijit stated, “Amitabh Bachchan’s voice has been used by Satyajit Ray in Shatranj Ke Khiladi, by Mrinal Sen in Bhuvan Shome and Ashutosh Gowariker in Lagaan. Needless to say, his voice has the finest baritone. I needed a voice to set the milieu of Begum Jaan, which is a period film. I think Bachchan’s voice defines history for a lot of generations, his voice has that epicness and an entire generation of cine-goers identify with his voice. It is the ideal way to start telling a story, especially for one that has a history.”
When producer Mukesh Bhatt and Srijit approached the megastar, he gave a nod after one narration. Srijit added, “He discussed the story and liked the premise. He recorded it in the second week of January. Before the recording, he gave me a lot of options in terms of the emotive quotient and we fixed one. He executed it with panache and his voice-over is wonderfully nuanced.”
The trailer of Begum Jaan will be out on March 14, 2017, and the film is slated to release on April 14, 2017.
