Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan broke many hearts when they tied the knot on June 3rd of 1973. The very handsome Big B was the angry young man of Bollywood with films like Anand and Namak Haraam to his credit. Jaya Bachchan was the subtle, demure beauty with hits like Guddi, Upahar, Bawarchi, Parichay, Piya Ka Ghar and Koshish to her credit. Love struck between the two stars, and the rest as they say, is history.
On the occasion of his 44th marriage anniversary, Big B took to Twitter to write, “June 3, 1973 .. 44 years of marriage .. thank you all for the wishes you send .. grateful and filled with love.”
Big B took to his blog to write some heartwarming words. He wrote, “and as I set out from ‘Mangal’ a rented house of mine in JVPD scheme, 7th Road .. in my newly acquired second hand Pontiac Sports, 2 door, with Ma and Babuji with me .. my driver Nagesh, now passed away, insisting on driving me to an apartment of Jaya’s family friend at Malabar Hill .. on the 3rd of June 1973, a few drops of rain began to fall .. our neighbour ran out of their house and excitedly screamed to us .. ‘hurry to the wedding, its raining, a good omen. …Its been 44 years since ..”
Isn’t that sweet?
Amitabh Bachchan is still in the midst of all the action, as far as work goes. The much loved veteran actor still wins the Best Actor award beating all the Khans and the Kapoors to those much desired trophies. He is currently working on 102 Not Out. The film is based on a running Gujrati Play written by Saumya Joshi by the same name and is being directed by Umesh Shukla.
Many wishes to Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan on their big day!
