Ever since it was announced that Mahesh Bhatt is returning to direction with a sequel to Sadak, fans have been eagerly waiting for the film. Sadak 2 has an ensemble cast of Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur and while Sadak was a romantic thriller and the story revolved around that of a taxi driver and a woman forced into prostitution, in Sadak 2, Alia Bhatt will be seen exposing a fake guru who runs an ashram. A few days back, it was being reported that in the film, Alia’s character is out to expose a fake guru who runs an ashram and she will be accompanied by Sanjay Dutt’s character in this journey.
Mahesh Bhatt had said that Sadak 2 is about love, loss, and redemption and when he was asked as to who will be playing the role of the godman in the film, the filmmaker said, “Gulshan Grover is not playing the role but we have a great actor playing that part. But Gulshan plays a very important part as well.” Well, finally the cat is out of the bag because according to a report, Makarand Deshpande will be essaying the role of a godman in the film. “It is an intense and challenging role, and Makarand has already started acting workshops with Bhatt saab. Like Maharani, played by Sadashiv Amrapurkar in the Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt starrer Sadak, a unique look is being designed for him in the sequel,” as quoted by Mirror.
For all those who don’t know, Makarand Deshpande has acted in films such as Junglee, Mere Pyare Prime Minister, Fukrey Returns and many others. While the preps for Sadak 2 have started in full swing, the film will officially go on floors on May 18 in Mumbai, and while initially, Sadak 2 was to be shot in Romania but after a recee, the makers decided to shoot the film in Mumbai and other parts of India.
