According to the official synopsis, the setting is World War I where two young British soldiers Schofield and Blake are in a race against time as they are handed over an impossible mission. Their goal is to cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will help stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers which includes Blake’s own brother. The first trailer delves deep into the grittiness and harsh landscape of war through the brilliant cinematography of the legendary Roger Deakins. We see Colin and Benedict’s characters in action but the real focus is on George and Dean-Charles as the young British soldiers.
Meanwhile, Sam has co-written the screenplay of 1917 along with Krysty Wilson-Cairns. 1917 is slated to release in the US on December 25, 2019, and in the UK on January 10, 2020.
