In the Fashion world, landing a campaign with design houses like Prada is literally close to finding gold at the end of the rainbow. Names like Christy Turlington, Carla Bruni, Amber Valletta, Naomi Campbell, Sasha Pivovarova and Arizona Muse have graced several campaigns in the previous years. It is most often considered as a fashion coup to be tapped by Prada.
Exactly why Gigi Hadid is on cloud nine now! The supermodel in the making has landed her first ever Prada campaign. Hadid stars alongside Prada regulars Freja Beha Erichsen and Anok Yai in the womens and menswear spring/summer 2019 collection in the first look of the campaign.
If you take a look at the campaign images, you can barely recognise Hadid with a micro fringe, bleached brows, spikey twiggy eyelashes and an oversized pink headband. Technically, Hadid’s eyebrows are still there; they’re simply camouflaged by a nearly imperceptible treatment of bleach and makeup. It’s certainly a testament to the lengths she’s willing to go to for the house. The look is certainly a departure for Hadid, whose usual long blonde hair and striking brows are somewhat of a signature for the model. According to Miuccia Prada, it seems Gigi Hadid has finally arrived at supermodel status.
Hadid has previously walked for Prada’s sister brand Miu Miu, but has never, as of January 2019, walked in a Prada show. Hadid might soon be hitting that Prada milestone—and perhaps even pivoting back to high fashion, having finally bid adieu to her contract with Tommy Hilfiger.
